There isn’t anyone who doesn’t know this song, and I don’t think there is a human on earth either who can not appreciate the leather trousered elegance that is Michael Hutchence. What a pouty, tumble haired, saucy little devil he really was. The music video combines live action and several different kinds of animation. It was directed by Richard Lowenstein. The visual effects were created by cutting up 35mm film and photocopying the individual frames, then layering these of the original footage. This is the only Billboard 100 song that INXS have ever had, and is reached number 2 in the UK, which is the highest single position they achieved here. It was one the last songs recorded for the album.
I do love INXS and think that they had such a different way with music- it’s danceable and likeable and pop and yet it’s admired by serious music fans. My favourite INXS song is actually “Do Wot U Do” from this album, but this video is much more fun to watch.
