Made In Chelsea S05E05: Are All Chelsea Boys ‘Lost Boys’?

You can read Ellie’s review of Episode 4 here

Yesterday’s episode saw the revealing of a new, rather conspicuous tattoo for Jamie Laing: a silhouette of Peter Pan – a ‘lost’ boy – isn’t exactly comforting to Jamie’s suffering girlfriend, Tara, surely?! This made me question the ‘motives’ of the Chelsea boys this episode, however. And the results were shocking.

It seems to me that all the Chelsea boys are in fact ‘Peter Pan’. They’re all clinging onto the last remnants of their exciting youth and terrified of anything too serious. Spencer is the prime example: although his gesture of taking Lucy to Paris (to be shown next week) seems pretty confident and suggestive of commitment, it seems obvious to me that these are all just parlour-tricks to wow her into bed, like the Mercedes.

When this tomfoolery is so apparent to everyone, it really begs the question, ‘why does Louise still want to be friends with him?’. Yes, Louise cried. Again. Apparently she misses the ‘friendly’ side to Spencer. Is she crazy?

My vote is yes.

It seems even lovable Francis is living the ‘Lost Boy’ lifestyle, as it is suggested he is being somewhat of a ‘player’ with Olivia, one of the new girls of Season 5. It also seemed quite petty that he had to make things slightly awkward when Ashley was mentioned. In true Made In Chelsea style, this awkwardness was prolonged for a good minute longer than necessary, and then revived by the Boulle, as he mentioned Andy’s attraction to Louise in front of Andy’s new ‘catch’ Fran.

But who is the best ‘catch’: Louise, or Fran? I honestly can’t decide which I despise most. I think none of the three new girls bring anything to the show, I don’t even know which one is which they’re that insignificant. But Louise is just a fountain of tears, sadness, and anger. Does Andy really need that in his life? Just because I know Andy really likes Louise, I’d say she’s probably the one he should go with (and by the looks of the ‘next week’ clip, he does!). But I will only give my blessing if Louise promises to chill out and be happy again!

Proudlock, shockingly, is being a bit of a ‘boi’ lately with his flirtatious advances on Phoebe. She seems to enjoy it, but I don’t think this pairing will be without controversy. It wouldn’t be Chelsea if everything was simple.

As I predicted last week, it seems Ashley and Ollie are still together, although things aren’t as rosy as previously. Ollie made the embarrassing admission that he hadn’t been ‘up’ for sex lately (excuse the pun!), adding strain to the already tenuous relationship. And can you guess who he made this admission to? Oscar, of course. In true Oscar style, he decided to put it out there to an unknowing Ashley, humiliating her and creating a multitude of awkwardness, before abandoning Ollie to solve the situation. It actually saddened me that this pairing seem to be drifting apart, as Ollie didn’t solve anything and instead said despairingly ‘I don’t know what to say’.  Oh no!

So it seems that the boys who should be getting serious are reverting back to the ‘terrible twos’ and the boy who actually wants to be an adult is facing uncontrollable problems! Sod’s law!

What do you think Andy should do: Louise or Fran?
