Bland Clothing, founded by Sophie Bland, is a fashion brand following the classic lines of retro styling, creating beautiful bespoke pieces that are truly one of a kind, and a small collection for winter.
Sophie began the line following a range of patterns from the 1920’s to the 1980’s given to her by her neighbours, Grandparents or charity shop finds. Since 2010, Sophie has been commissioned to use these designs and has altered the design to fit the brief, leading to some very interesting jobs- such as making an evil dentist burlesque dress and a 1920’s Oxford bag suit for a male singer for his music video. However, Sophie’s passion for fashion resides mainly with 1950’s Swing dresses (which are such a beautiful shape- if you’ve never worn one before, I really cannot recommend them enough. They make your waist look tiny and your bust look perky. Yes please) and 1960’s Mad Man-esque pieces.
Sophie has now created a small ‘winter’ collection (boat neck pencil dress and shift dress) to be sold in Small/Medium/Large to allow Sophie to take tailoring lessons and learn how to knit in order to provide a better service and a variation of accessories! Sophie will bring back the made to measure service in the New Year.
All pieces can be brought from the website and prices are:-
Ready to wear pencil dresses – £40
Ready to wear shift dresses – £35
Commissioned pieces – Start from £80 for dresses.
Please contact Sophie via her website or Facebook page or by email for any enquiries about any pieces, sizing etc.

As the photos show, these pieces really are beautiful and I think it’s really wonderful to wear something that you know is made with loving care, or in the case of a bespoke piece, has been created purely for you.
Please do check out Sophie’s work via her webpages and please spread the word, and then when she’s featured in every fashion magazine you can feel smug and say “Oh yeah, I liked her stuff years ago.”
Please see examples below of Sophie’s beautiful work.
