Just Tyres has created an interactive graphic that reveals the country where you can travel the furthest distance with £50 worth of petrol and diesel, out of 29 different countries across Europe.
New research by tyre fitting specialists, Just Tyres, has combined the average fuel prices for 29 countries in Europe with fuel consumption data to reveal the European country where you can drive the most distance and get the best value for money.
Heading off on a European road trip this summer? Depending on which country you’re headed to – and whether you hire a petrol or diesel car – the distance you’re able to drive with £50 worth of fuel in your tank could vary by up to 514 miles.
Europe’s Fuel Price Index, released by Just Tyres, reveals the European countries that are leading the way with value for fuel costs.
Going the extra mile
The difference in the distance you can travel in each European country with £50 worth of fuel in your tank is so significant that, in some cases, you could drive across an entire country with the extra miles. For example, if you fill up in Bulgaria with £50 of petrol, you’ll have 210 more miles than if you’d filled up in Norway. With those extra miles you’d be able to; drive the width of Holland twice with a few more miles to spare; drive from Scottish city Glasgow to north-western UK city Manchester – approximately a 3.5 hour drive – and you’d also be ten miles short of driving across Switzerland, which has a width of 220 miles.
Fuel in the UK
The UK ranks as the 11th lowest European country for petrol costs – and 5th for diesel – as drivers are able to travel 459 miles with £50 worth of petrol. That said, the likes of Germany, Spain and Switzerland might all be better road-tripping destinations if you’re looking for the best value for money.
