We still think this was the most talked about transfer of the window because it had literally been months of talking about it before it was completed. But now the most talked about one is PSG’s Neymar. We’ll also talk through some other possible moves, we love a rumour!
With the transfer window of the Premier League closed now, the only transfer news is any players going on loan or of course other leagues where they are still available to do business. Manchester United seem to be talking about Paul Pogba staying at the Manchester club and not to join Real Madrid. Of course the Spanish club might decide to instead not go for the more expensive option and could opt for the cheaper option with Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen.
Zinedine Zidane has confirmed Gareth Bale will not leave Real Madrid this summer.
He said: “We talked about it before the match, I think we talked about it two or three times to say that he is going to stay. And all the players that are here now are only thinking about this season.
“I think this is true considering the way Gareth performed, but not only Gareth. I think that everyone played a good game.
“All we have to do is to think about this season and I am sure that he and all the other players only think about staying here and play.”
With the European transfer window shutting on September 2, it is fast approaching and there is still some tensions in the Premier League that the window wasn’t long enough to get replacements in. Also that overseas clubs can still come in for Premier League players.
Back overseas though, to the most talked about transfer this summer (after this one) is Neymar leaving PSG. Thomas Tuchel says PSG star Neymar will not leave unless they land a replacement.
“I always say the same thing, the transfer window is open even more than 10 days and you think it will be settled tomorrow or the day after tomorrow?“
“What I think is not important. Today my player cannot play because he has not done any training like the others. This is the situation, and nothing has changed.”
Neymar feels the time is right and, despite previous links to Manchester United and Juventus, a La Liga return looks to be on the cards.
Barcelona are hoping to sign Neymar on loan, with a view to make the deal permanent. Spanish newspaper Sport say Barcelona want to send Ivan Rakitic to PSG to get the Croatia international off the wage bill. Barcelona have sold Malcom and have sent Philippe Coutinho to Bayern Munich on loan to free up funds.
So far, Neymar has kept his thoughts about a move to himself. He’s stayed fairly active on social media (the real true insight apparently into how someone feels) over the summer but it’s thought that he’s getting fairly frustrated by how long the process is taking.
PSG and Juventus will hold talks over Paulo Dybala this week. Juventus could be willing to sell Dybala to free up funds to sign Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi. Dybala is seen as PSG’s replacement for Neymar should the Brazilian leave.
There could still be two outgoings from Manchester United with Alexis Sanchez going on loan to Inter Milan. Also Marcos Rojo should be completing his move to Fenerbahce on loan soon too.
