Latest research from Heart Bingo looked at the top 50 music acts currently touring the UK and compared their average ticket prices. Using 8 data points, we have analysed which gigs are the best value for money. The study counts every UK #1 single, chart topping album and award won.
Different genres may be less popular on streaming services and less represented at mainstream music awards which would have affected the algorithm. The Value for Money is calculated based on the number of singles, awards and streams rather than the quality of the live performance or ability of the artist.
For the number of awards won, the study only looked at major award music bodies including Billboard Music Awards, Grammys, Brit Awards and the American Music Awards.
Key points from the research:
- Ed Sheeran, Elton John, Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo were viewed as the artists providing gigs that are “Best Value for Money“
- Pop Music had the “Best Value for Money” gigs while Rock music gigs had the “Worst Value for Money”
- Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Sting, and The Script were viewed as the “Most Overpriced” music acts touring the UK
- Upcoming rock gigs and events were found to be the “Most Expensive” to attend and would set you back an average of £147.65 per gig
- RnB and Soul concerts were found to be the cheapest gigs to attend. Despite being one of the most respected genres at award shows
- Queen do not have any Grammys even when Freddie was the lead singer. The band was later inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2004, 2009 and received a lifetime achievement award, although the band never officially won a Grammy
