5 cool things to try with an iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 is a pretty impressive piece of kit. We’re dealing with an iPhone, so you’re going to have lots of little details that will blow your mind. Apple have led the way in creating very cool extras that make life more fun, more straightforward and more streamlined. Although an older release, you can still pick up a refurbished iPhone 12 that you can try these 5 top tricks out on.

Back to the future
The back of a mobile phone normally just houses a cool phone cover but Apple has transformed the back into a quick function access point. Go to Settings, Accessibility and Touch, to turn on your back tap. With Back Tap switched on, there are a few things that you’ll be able to do with a quick tap. You can choose to access the function with a double or a triple tap. Try taking a screenshot with a double tap of the back of your phone or take the quick route to your notification centre with a swift triple tap!

Tidy Up Today

Your iPhone may be full of widgets, but your home screen will also offer you a ‘Today’ view that you’ll find on the left of your top home screen. Make it work for you by editing it – just swipe to it and scroll down until you can see the edit button. Tapping this will enable you to remove widgets from the top of the screen and edit the bottom window too. You’ll be able to remove old widgets and streamline your Today to work for you.

Lots of Emojis 😯➡😀

An emoji can say a thousand words but they can be tricky little things to find in a hurry, when you’ve got your phone in one hand and a coffee/bag/child’s hand in the other. Apple has thought of all of this for you and brings the world of emojis to your fingertips through their in-built keyboard. Simply launch the emoji keyboard and pop your search term into the ‘search emoji’ field. Within seconds, you’ll be pondering over getting just the right smile, eyebrow raise, sushi and burger combination and flags of the world from the dizzying array spread out before you.

Quick QRs

Spotted a QR code and want to scan it super-quick? Just swipe down from the top right of the screen to open the Control Centre. In here is a little QR code button that will open a QR reader and you can get scanning.

Change your App-earance

Your App Library will sort your apps into folders, which can make apps hard to find. If you want to navigate around them more easily, simply drag down the App Library screen and – hey presto – all of your apps will be listed in alphabetical order. If you aren’t quite sure which app you’re looking for, you can still search your apps through the search bar or tap on the little letter on the right-hand side.
