BBC2 Tuesday 7pm

A poignant look at how a diagnosis of motor neurone disease has impacted on the life of the rugby league star. The devastation is clear to see but the compassion of his family shine through.

Gangs of London
Sky Atlantic Thursday 9pm

The show that beats other gangland sagas into a cocked hat is back. It’s gleefully gory vibe is too much for some but if you can stomach it, the drama is sharp intense and slickly filmed.

Netflix 21st October

Zoe Saldana and Daniel Deadwyler star in a reprint true life drama based on a bestselling memoir by Tembi Locke. Amy embarks on a trip to Italy in search of art and beauty it leads her into an epic tearjerking love story.

Netflix Wednesday

A 2019 fire at Notre Dame cathedral in Paris called shock around the world when we saw the footage of the flames. Firefighters balance the desire to preserve a priceless landmark with the need to preserve life, especially those who have lost colleagues or loved ones in the past.

Stranger
Netflix Wednesday

The Stranger is inspired by one of Australia’s most notorious crimes of the 2003 kidnap and murder of a 13-year-old Queensland boy. This fictional spin on events focuses on elaborate police operation targeting the chief suspect Henry.

Joyride
Paramount+ Friday

In this Irish road movie, 12-year-old tearaway Mully steals a taxi only to discover touchy solicitor Joy and her baby asleep in the back. Joy wants to deliver her unwanted child to a friend and catch a flight to Lanzarote, and she demands Mully drives her. The film’s fairytale finale is predictable but Colman and Reid bring conviction to the story.

Raymond & Ray
Apple TV+ Friday

This amiable dramedy from writer-director Rodrigo Garcia takes a lightly comic look at complex relationships. Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke play the half-brothers. The film’s gentle nature is at odds with the roar and messy emotions on show but McGregor and Hawke are well suited to their roles as an uptight control freak and a scruffy Lothario.
