New research from Betway has revealed the most haunted attractions in the UK to visit this Halloween.
October is often seen as the spookiest month of the year, with Halloween fast approaching and fans of the supernatural eager to seek out eerie experiences. But which attractions in the UK are considered to be the most haunted in 2025?
To uncover the answer, Betway analysed almost 180,000 TripAdvisor reviews across 30 famously haunted sites. Reviews were scanned for a range of chilling keywords including “scary,” “haunted,” “ghosts,” “eerie” and “sinister”, before calculating how frequently each term appeared. The result is a definitive scariness ranking, revealing which UK landmarks left visitors feeling the most unsettled.

Tucked away towards the North East coastline, Chillingham Castle in Northumberland has been crowned the UK’s most haunted location. A 13th Century, Grade I listed building, the castle has a remarkably strong bloodline dating back to the 1200s and showcases breathtaking views from its gardens.
But beneath the castle’s stately exterior lies a much darker side. Visitors can explore its infamous Torture Chamber, or join an after-dark ghost tour through rooms long regarded as some of the most haunted in England. According to TripAdvisor, of the 1,306 reviews posted, a chilling 61.6% contained words linked to fear, hauntings, or the supernatural, cementing Chillingham’s reputation as the nation’s scariest site.
