As book prices rise and readers go digital, Europe’s love affair with real books is finding a second life in the resale market.
Vinted’s latest category data reveals a powerful new chapter for pre-loved literature, with fantasy franchises, collector editions and Manga dominating searches across the continent.
To spotlight its growing Books category, Vinted has appointed Pandora Sykes, author, journalist and broadcaster, as its first UK Books Curator. Drawing on her credibility and deep connection to the literary world, Pandora will champion the joy and accessibility of second-hand reading while inspiring readers to choose pre-loved books. Her appointment reinforces Vinted’s commitment to making reading more sustainable and affordable as the UK’s second-hand book market continues to grow, now worth over £1.34 billion.

Pandora Sykes says:
“ Most people know and love Vinted for second-hand shopping, but not enough people know how brilliant it is for books! I love buying second-hand books – they’re up to 90% cheaper, and you can find fun, old covers at a time when books are getting more expensive and people are reading less than ever before. Vinted’s offering feels vital. I’m absolutely thrilled to be their UK books curator. “
Pandora’s curatorship highlights the breadth of what’s now discoverable on Vinted, fromvintage Animal Ark sets to Jacqueline Wilson box-lots, while spotlighting the platform’s new language filter, which uses ISBN scanning to let members search titles in specific languages with ease.
On social media, BookTok, Bookstagram and BookTube now shape bestseller charts, propelling “romantasy” hits like Fourth Wing, Iron Flame and A Court of Thorns and Roses to viral resale demand.
As the resale economy continues to expand, second-hand books are emerging as one of its most dynamic categories, combining circular value, affordability and cultural connection for a new generation of European readers.
