Men aged 35-44 from New York have been identified as the luckiest people in the United States, new research reveals.
The research, conducted by social casino site PlayFame, measured participants ‘luck scores’ based on a 25-point system, where respondents were asked to rank their luck on a scale from one to five in a variety of different situations.
5% of respondents scored a flawless 5/5 score across all situation types, with the luckiest group consisting of 56% male, 42% female and 2% other. Among the lucky males, the majority (40%) fell within the 35-44 age bracket and New York was the most represented region. Luck-dependent situations tested included flipping a coin or finding something unexpected to brighten your day.
More than half (54%) of survey respondents think they’re lucky, while only 6% don’t believe in luck as a concept at all.
Of those who consider themselves lucky, Western Americans rank the highest with 54%.
The most common lucky moment people have experienced is finding money lying on the ground, which has happened to more than half the nation (53%). The other top lucky scenarios included securing a parking spot in a crowded area (36%) and meeting the right person at the right time (30%).
