With Halloween’s ghostly approach on the horizon, breakdown experts at The AA have delved into 40 of the UK’s most terrifyingly good pumpkin patches to crown the best of all for 2025. The ultimate patch was identified using The AA’s newest index, which evaluates the patches based on five key factors, including monthly Google search data, Google review scores, Instagram and TikTok hashtags, and whether the pumpkins are grown on-site!

In the UK, there are over 40,500 monthly Google searches for ‘pumpkin picking near me,’ a search term that has increased by more than 300% in the last three months. Searches for ‘pumpkin carving’ have also risen significantly, seeing a 120% increase to an average of 22,200 searches per month. This rising interest is reflected in the popularity of specific farms, with the top three most-searched-for pumpkin patches being Tulleys Farm with 715,000 searches, Cannon Hall Farm with 134,500 searches, and Cattows Farm with 101,100 searches.

Leading the way as the UK’s top pumpkin patch overall this year is Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, with a score of 75.99 out of 100.

Shaun Jones, AA Patrol of the Year, discusses how to keep the kids entertained in the car on the way to these top spots:

  • “Play games – games like “I-Spy”,  road trip bingo, or green number plate spotting can keep kids occupied and looking out the window.
  • Share control – let kids choose the music to get them engaged in a sing-along.
  • Plan a scenic route –  avoid boring motorways by taking a more interesting route with different sights and landscapes.
  • Stop often – break up long journeys with stops at parks or other interesting places rather than just service stations.
  • Bring plenty of snacks – stock up on food and drinks that aren’t messy to save money and prevent complaints.
  • Create a “treasure chest”– pack a box of small toys, games, and snacks that kids can tuck into gradually throughout the trip to keep them entertained.”
