Hey everyone!
Recently it has become a year since I moved to the lovely land of London. What can I say, it has been an amazing but also quite a scary twelve months. To go from living in such a small town to a massive city can be daunting for anyone but also really exciting! I was and still am overwhelmed by the huge beautiful buildings and famous sites, things I never thought I would ever get to see for real. The closest I got to Big Ben was on the bottle of HP brown sauce!
Living here can take some getting used to. I still haven’t gotten the hang of the oh-so-confusing Tube map, it looked like a plate of rainbow spaghetti at first! One thing that still scares me is Rush Hour arrrggghhh! Weaving in and out of the Armani suit and Prada shoe clad crowds to get to the Underground can be really hard work especially for a little woman like me! I sometimes feel like a bug but I suppose that’s better than feeling like a sardine when I’m crushed up against the door in the Tube train! The awesome music being played by the buskers makes up for that though, I just love the Jazz Man in Piccadilly Station.
A few things I love about London:
The World Is Your Oyster. That little blue piece of plastic they call an Oyster Card is your ticket to anywhere. I just love how you can literally get on a bus and go somewhere completely different every time. The transport is so quick and regular you’ll always get wherever you need to be on time. I’m now at the point that if I have to wait five measly minutes for a Tube it feels like forever.
Coffee Anyone? Everybody loves a good cup of Joe and the great thing about London is that you don’t have to look very far to get one. There’s literally a Starbucks on every corner! It’s cool because you don’t have to stick to the same shop and you’ve always got a different view of the lovely City.
The West End. One thing London is famous for is the theatres and musicals. There is such a variety of shows you’ll be stuck for choice. I’m going to see Ghost The Musical in July and I can’t wait, it’ll be the first West End show I’ve ever been to and probably not the last.
What A Site To See. I will never get bored of seeing the sites, I’m still fascinated every time I go over Westminster Bridge by how stunning the view is. It looks absolutely beautiful at night all lit up and it’s amazing to see the amount of tourists! No matter how many times I have seen everything I still like to mix in with them by whipping my camera out.
Food of The World. The awesome thing about eating out is the vast choice of restaurants. Whether you feel like eating French, Italian, Greek, Japanese…wow I could go on forever…you’ll always find something you fancy. One of my personal favourites is a little French restaurant called ‘La Cave’ in London Bridge, the food is sensational.
Cocktail It Up. All I can say is wow! They really know how to make a good cocktail here. They use things in them that I’ve never even heard of and whatever they are they taste divine! My particular favourite hang-out is a place called ‘Bar Blue’ in London Bridge. The bar staff are fantastic they’ll make anything you want using the alcohol of your choice.
The Opportunity. I’m so glad I had the chance move here to start a whole new life and fulfil my career aspirations. I attend a couple of great theatre schools which I really enjoy, something that wasn’t possible for me before. London is the ‘Land Of Opportunity’ for whatever you want to do. Living here really is a dream come true!
Now these are just a few of the things I love, there are plenty more! It’s impossible to get bored in this magnificent place, there’s something different to see and do everyday. Sometimes I feel a bit lost here but I love how I can just be my crazy wacky self and nobody would bat an eyelid. I could walk down the street in a gorilla costume and no one would think it was weird. Whether you’re moving here, living here or visiting you’ll never want to leave!
