Celebrating our 100th post – Thank you!

On the 26th January, I published the first article on Daily Waffle welcoming everyone to the site. I hoped the site would be a place where bloggers could come together and share their opinion on topics they wouldn’t usually write about. I envisioned that the opinion of the writers and the opinions of the readers would shape the way the site grew.

We are now at the 27th March and this is our 100th post. The site is slightly different from my original vision, but different is most definitely better. We currently have three features running on the site. Born Offside: our weekly football column written by the infamous JY_MUFC in a manner that only he can. We have the Weekly Waffle, bringing you the opinion of our writers on topics relevant to the past week; and finally we have our newest feature, our Health & Lifestyle specials by Im_Soapgirl and Parneaus guiding you through the Spring into a healthy and more active Summer. We have expanded the writing team to 15 contributors, each bringing their own style and flavour to the site and truly allowing us to cover all bases. We have a forum, which is currently and underutilized tool but which we hope will be used more thoroughly be our readers and writers in the future. We have also branched out to a number of social media sites and you can now find Daily Waffle on Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr. Make sure you check them out as each one has its own unique flavour.

This is still most definitely the beginning for the site. We will not be resting on our relative successes as we will be striving to ensure that the site is matching your expectations as the reader. We will expand our selection of regular features, beginning with our race reviews for the Formula 1 2011 season. We will be expanding our readership by joining a number of blog directories, which has started this week with the successful application to Technorati.com. We will also be looking at possibly running reader competitions in the future with some junk from the DW towers as a prize (more details on this at a later date). Whatever happens we will certainly be moving forward.

All of this makes me proud to be the lead editor of the site, and I feel I need to say a few thank you’s to the people who have helped us get to this point. Firstly I’d like to thank BlissBubbley, our deputy editor, for putting up with my random idea emails and being my memory. I’d also like to thank the writers as its been a pleasure working with so many people with obvious talent. Finally, I’d like to thank you, the reader, for visiting our site and reading the articles we write. We write these articles so to hopefully share our opinions with others who may, or may not, feel the same way. Our writers love receiving comments on their articles and starting conversation with our readers so please, next time you read one of our articles, tell the writer what you think.

All this has happened in just over two months. The journey is only just beginning and I hope you’ll stick with us for the ride.
