Music Monday: The Foo Fighters

This song will always hold a very special place in my heart. When I was about 13, I really began to discover music. I moved away from the Top 40’s and started listening to Nirvana, Metallica, King Adora and The Pixies. This song was the first song I ever downloaded, and started a voyage into music that I’m still on.

This song is from the bands third album, and the first album that involved drummer Taylor Hawkins. Critics hailed this album as a softer and more experimental sound from The Foo Fighters.

The Foo Fighters know how to make a good video. Dave Grohl, the official “nice guy” of rock, obviously has a brilliant sense of humour and this emotional and clever song is gently off-set by this daft and amusing video. Featuring Kyle Gass and Jack Black from Tenacious D, the video also shows the drummer Taylor as a disturbingly good looking air hostess, Dave as a hilariously camp member of the flight crew and all manner of other silly situations. I really love the song too, and I’m very glad Dave came out from behind the drums to the front of the band. I think he deserves to be there.
