Sarah’s Bakery Corner – It’s all about the Secret Ingredients

I have written about Secret Ingredients before and I’m back again and I’m slightly late really late in writing another post about them.

Is it bad that they have become a staple food in our house? Well, cakes are definitely a staple food so these toppings have to be the same! I make the rules.

We’ve not only used them on cakes but on ice creams too. We’ve actually stopped buying any other form of cake toppings for these, made easier by the fact I can buy them in Lakeland, which actually is not always a good thing. Why do I always go in there for a couple of things and leave with a bag full. Still makes my life is made easier I suppose.

So when I do a mammoth baking session and I’m still not totally convinced that I want everyone to see my twonky rose icing. Well except for the fact that I’m about to share it with the whole internet…

See? It’s not quite right is it? Although they are a lot better than they used to be!

So every baking session I practice making my roses and then on the ones that I never want seeing to other eyes I’ll put some toppings on them. Disguise the mess I should say. My two favourites are the mini fudge cubes and the red metallic chocolate pieces! Oh my heavens they are divine.

The only problem is having enough to decorate anything as I seem to have a “one for the cake, three for me” rule! Notice the chocolate smudge marks on the jars in the top photos, that is totally me!

You can have a look at the full range of Secret Ingredients on their website secret-ingredients.com and if you’re lucky to have a Lakeland store near you then you can pop in there and spend…
