I had the pleasure of seeing this band live when the Daily Waffle kindly sent me and a friend to “Manchester: So Much to Answer For”, the exhibition by Kevin Cummins with his photos of The Smiths. (see my article “Punctured Bicycle“.)
I thought this band were brilliant- they are just my kind of music. Their roots clearly run deep to The Smiths and Suede and Pulp, they have clever lyrics, twangly guitar and firm drumbeats. I liked the lead singer who has that kind of loose-limbed gangly Jarvis Cocker thing about him, and their drummer looks like Brett Butler from Suede. All round really very good. I really think they’re one to watch for the future- I hope they find commercial success as I really feel they deserve it- such as modern indie bands before them like The Wombats and We Are Scientists.
I love this kooky little video from a band that are really quite kooky themselves. If you ever have to chance to see this band live I can’t recommend them enough- they’re a pleasure to watch and I love their music.
