If you asked most young adults today, aside from perhaps having learned about it in a music history lesson, most would not be aware of the fact that once upon a time, in order for a music fan enjoy their favorite music artist’s music they would have had to have physically driven out to a record store, bought an entire album, taken it home, and finally played it on a dedicated music machine (we’re talking record player, walkman, CD player!). But now that we’re well into the digital era, the whole music buying and enjoyment process has changed so drastically. This would have been totally unheard of back when the controversial peer-to-peer sharing network, Napster, blew up, at which time the whole music industry was cursing the day the internet was born. But fast forward to now, and online streaming music websites (which are totally free for the consumer) are one of the music industry’s biggest profit-maker. Check out this infographic for even more crazy facts about the revolution of digital music.
