Music Monday: Liam Burke- Down To Dannys

Liam Burke- Down To Dannys

It’s a good thing to support local talent, and its something I’m quite lazy with. Bedford, where I live, has a huge music scene and Liam Burke is leading the way. Don’t approach him directly, he’s kind of a big deal now (sorry, in-joke.)

I had the pleasure of seeing Liam perform live at a charity event organised by a friend, and I can say he’s a delight to see. It isn’t easy to get up on stage in front of a crowd of friends, strangers and very drunk people, but he did it and he did it very well. Liam’s folky music is interesting, and cleverly written- he’s a way with lyrics. I love people who sing from their bellies and hearts and not just their lungs, and Liam does.

This song is incredibly catchy, listen once and it’ll be stuck in your brain forever. I enjoyed the video, which is light hearted and funny, yet cleverly shot and charming. I know that you make music for the ears and not the eyes, but Liam does have that gangly Jarvis Cocker thing going on, and he is genuinely a lovely person. I love it when nice things happen to nice people.

There’s a good range of videos of Liam performing on you tube, so please do pop on and have a little look.

Liam’s EP is available now, and more information and upcoming tour dates can be found here https://www.facebook.com/LiamBurkeMusic, on twitter at @liamburkemusic and on Soundcloud.

Down at heels, music obsessed girl who works in admin. Frequently found talking nonsense on audio blogs, writing nonsense on written blogs or when the internet is down, talking to herself. Life lurches from one disaster to another, but at least it's amusing. I like cats and rats. My fear is they will one day form an allegiance and take over the world. You saw it here first.
