Parents save for the education of their children. They set aside a large chunk of their monthly paychecks to make sure that they could put their children in good schools where they could get a formal education. The cost of education nowadays is skyrocketing. On a yearly basis, tuition fees and miscellaneous expenditures like school supplies and allowances increase. They inflate faster compared to a parent’s monthly salary. To make up for this, parents make it a point to start saving even during the time when their children are still in the infant stage. Although this is ideal, not every parent gets the chance to save enough to pay for their children’s college education.
Parents Prefer the Traditional
The type of education that parents prepare their children for is the traditional classroom learning approach. In this approach, they bring their children to school so that their kids can learn a new lesson related to a field of specialization that their children chose. There is however another type of learning that can be less expensive as compared to classroom learning; and this is eLearning.
This is a new concept that only came into existence at the start of the 21st century. The development stage of this learning only started at the close of the 20th century. The amount of information that parents have on eLearning is very minimal and that’s the reason why most parents don’t accept it as an effective method in mastering a subject matter. But if costing is an issue, eLearning may win by a mile.
Content Preparation Difference
In preparing content, each lesson in classroom learning needs to be delivered by an instructor. This instructor must undergo special training and attend seminars related to the field that they are teaching. Every hour that a teacher spends in a classroom is paid. A teacher’s hourly rate varies according to qualification.
In some cases, the type of expert that a school hires may depend on the budget that the school has. In eLearning, the content is prepared by an expert in a specific subject that’s constructed in a progressive approach. The lesson-taker makes a one-time payment for the content and reuses it again and again.
Accidental Expenses
When it comes to location, a classroom learning approach requires a student to travel from home to school and vice versa. The amount of gasoline each student spends depends on the distance they have between school and home. Each student is required to get a locker of their own and a personal textbook of the subject that they are learning.
Internet Access is Essential
In eLearning, all the learner needs is Internet access. They can take their lessons at home, while on vacation, while visiting relatives in another state or even in a coffee shop. They can just contact the lesson administrator and leave a voicemail if they need to clarify a specific subject matter. So as long as the learner is in an environment where there’s Internet access, they’ll be able to get their daily lesson.
Strictly Formal
When a student attends formal education in a school, they are required to wear uniforms. The attire for schools is business casual and most of the time, you can’t buy one from any store. Each uniform is unique compared to other schools so they have to pay a premium to get a complete set.
Come as You Are
In eLearning, the learner can take their lesson while wearing their pajamas. There’s no uniform policy and no one will question the student’s hygiene as they take a lesson. What’s important is that they find the time to just take the lesson for the day.
Reusable Learning
The advantage of eLearning is its infinite reusability of lesson content. They can be stored electronically and be shared from one learner to another. With eLearning, people can learn more for less.
