It’s time for Christmas songs! Hoorah!
This song was originally supposed to be released in 1984, but it was delayed a year so it wouldn’t clash with Band Aids “Do they know it’s Christmas?” The song was then released in December 1985 and was a number one, and has received airplay every Christmas since then, and has been featured on numerous Christmas compilations.
This song was Shakin’ Stevens fourth number one. It’s one of my favourite Christmas songs, simply because it’s ridiculously joyful and bouncy, even though Christmas can be a stressful time of year, I love Christmas because it’s also a great reason to eat, drink, and be merry. (I do that all the time but it’s nice when other people join you.)
