The human body is the subject of much curiosity, type into Google ‘why do we’ and what follows is a steady stream of body related questions. Thanks to technological advances, we now know more about the body than ever before and as a result we are even more inquisitive. With most of us having limited knowledge of the human body, information on its weird and wonderful workings can prove to be the subject of much intrigue; with the eyes arguably being one of the most intriguing aspects.
Despite using our eyes on a daily basis, it can slip our minds just how amazing and complex these organs of vision are. For example, most of us will have entered into a staring competition at one time or another, where fighting the overwhelming urge to blink becomes a task of great difficulty. However, did you know that on average we blink 14,280 times a day? Or that blinking lasts around 100 milliseconds? As the following infographic shows, facts about the eyes are as interesting as they are varied, demonstrating just how clever the human body really is.
