With the end of the year fast approaching, it’s definitely not too early to start thinking about Easter. It’s a great time for creative labels and packaging, with eggs, toys and other seasonal treats filling the shelves. So how can you prepare to make your Easter product packaging stand out from the crowd? There’s a lot to think about, including colour, shape and all those other little finishing touches. Luckily, we’ve put together a guide that will help your product fly off of the shelves this Easter!
Think about colours
When we think of Easter, we think of bright, fun colours. Spring has just sprung, the sun is just starting to come out again and we’re ready to leave the dull winter behind. The shelves are awash with soft yellow, greens, pinks and blues. These colours are popular with children and are ideal for treats for the younger part of the population. For adults, the colour scheme can afford to be a little more grown up. You’ll notice that a lot of the luxury brands employ a deeper, richer palate – such as the Easter eggs by Gobino, with their stained glass window-esque boxes. A custom printed label is a great way to bring that all important pop of colour to your product, especially now as manufacturers are under pressure to cut down on the amount of packaging that they use. So whether your product is aimed at adults or children, the choice of colour for your label can massively influence the choice potential customers make. What about a more interesting shape?
Aside from the colour scheme, shape also plays an important part in Easter product packaging. It’s a great opportunity to take advantage of the time of year and experiment with different designs. How about a rounded, egg shaped sticker? Or perhaps one in the shape of the famous Easter bunny? These kind of labels can be a great way of bringing that Easter magic to a product that is available all year round, such as chocolate. With an eye catching label, they will instantly catch the eye of customers – and that means more sales!
Do some market research
One of the most important things to do when designing your Easter product packaging is to do some research. It’s important to know what else is out there, so that you can then make yours a different as possible. Just looking at a few examples on the internet isn’t good enough. You need to go out to the supermarket and take a good look at what is available on the shelf. What works and what doesn’t? What product catches your eye? Most importantly, what one would you want to buy based on a first impression? Looking at the success and failure of others is the most effective way to come up with an idea that is going to sell a product.
There’s help out there
Now that you know how to make your product stand out, there’s no reason why it won’t be flying off of the shelves come Easter. There are companies out there who have designed countless labels, so taking advantage of their creativity and expertise isn’t a bad idea at all. Just make sure you save an Easter egg for us when they’re ready for the shops!
