Build Your Brand: Get Involved with Your Community

In a world flourishing with small businesses and entrepreneurs, it’s crucial to find a way to make your business stand out. Growing your brand into one that’s unique is so important in order for it to prosper. Community involvement is a fantastic way to build your brand into something that means more than just providing a service to its customers. Getting your company involved in the community means a real contribution to society is being made.

When your employees have the opportunity to volunteer in the community, they’ll know they’re truly making a difference in someone’s lives. Likewise, when your customers see you contributing, they’ll grow even more loyal knowing that not only do you stand for the betterment of your community, but you’re also doing something firsthand to help it. So how exactly can your business get involved, ultimately building your brand into one that’s strong and distinguished?

1. Get to Know Your Community

First and foremost, identify with who your community is. Is your business small and local? Your community in this case is your surrounding area geographically. If your business is Internet based, social media groups are most likely a part of your community.

After identifying who makes up your community, you can start to look more closely at what’s needed. Schools? Animal shelters? Homeless shelters? What’s lacking in your community that you can contribute to helping?

2. Grow Your Team’s Awareness

Educate and inform your employees about what’s going on in the community and what you as a business can do to help. Volunteering to help a cause your team believes in can boost morale, increase your employees’ motivation to work hard, and can be an incredibly fulfilling thing to do as a team. This will also raise local awareness of your business and build trust and integrity in the community.

3. Make a Plan

Create a plan that works for your business and your community. Figure out what’s really needed in your area, but also play to your company’s strengths. So if there’s something you can all do to volunteer your time, that’s fantastic; but if there’s something you can all do as a business, that’s an awesome direction to go as well. For instance, if you work for a construction company, you might want to look into building something that’s needed in your area. You can also donate goods or cash to aid after a natural disaster.

The important thing is to connect with your community, collaborate with your team, choose a mission that means something to your area and to your employees, and set goals to serve! Ultimately, your employees will be happier and more fulfilled at work, your brand will grow stronger and more distinguished, and your customers will see how great your business really is.
