Going on a camping gives us the opportunity to bond with nature and to let go of all the conveniences that we have today temporarily. But this does not mean that you also need to give up the sleeping comfort that you truly deserve after a long day of camping activities. Fortunately, there are tips for campers to get a good night sleep while appreciating the fresh air and the goodness of the environment.
Here are some of the tips on how you can get a good night sleep during your camping to make every minute of it worth it.
Choosing a Sleeping Bag
There are two types of sleeping bags that you can use when going to a camp. One is the car bags and the backpacking bags. The car bags are usually wider, which means that you will have more room to keep you comfortable while you sleep. This is perfect for the warmer night since it is known not to help the body’s weight to be retained.
The backpacking bags are perfect for colder nights because it is typically shaped for a warmer and closer fit. This type of sleeping bag is usually filled with duck or goose down, which can readily compress, compared with that of a synthetic filled sleeping bag.
Choosing a Proper Site
The next thing that you need to do is to pick a place where you can set up your tent. You need to make sure that the surface is durable, flat, and cleared of pine cones, rocks, and sticks. This will help you sleep comfortably in your sleeping bag, which will be inside your tent.
Also, it would be best to choose a site that is not infested with mosquitoes, though they can really be anywhere during the night. So the best way to deal with this is to bring an electric mosquito killer to keep them away from you while you’re asleep.
Use Earplugs
The next thing that you need to do is to bring a pair of earplugs, which can be purchased at supermarkets. If you are a light sleeper, then using earplugs would help since it will contribute to reducing the sound that you’ll be hearing outside your tent. This can also assist you if you are sleeping with someone who snores loudly.
Avoid Eating a Big Meal
While it is more fun to eat something while going on a camp with your family and friends. It would be best to go easy on sausages or steak during dinner time. The reason behind this is because they are packed with protein, which is known to digest the hardest. Your body will then work on digesting the food that you just ate instead of sleeping.
Exercise a Little
It would also be best to do a little exercise before going to sleep. This will help relax your body and feel a bit tired, which will then help you put yourself to sleep. Just don’t overdo it since you don’t want to be all sweaty, which will make it harder for you to sleep.
Pee before Sleeping
It is recommended that a person should pee twenty to thirty minutes before they go to bed and sleep. The reason behind this is because this will help you avoid waking up in the middle of the night just to pee. You might have a hard time going back to sleep then.
Have a Water Bottle Nearby
In case you wake up in the middle of the night, and you feel like drinking, it would be best to have it nearby, instead of having to go out of the tent to get it. The reason behind this is because going out of the tent will require you to keep yourself awake. Again, this might make going back to sleep harder.
Stop Stressing Yourself
Before going to sleep, stop worrying about not getting enough sleep because it can stress you out. You need to relax your mind and body before going to sleep, for you to ensure that you will get the needed rest that you need. Instead of stressing yourself, why not just enjoy the experience of sleeping outdoors inside your tent.
These are the different tips on how you can have a good night sleep when going on a camping. Doing the above tips will surely ensure that you will get enough rest during the evening, for you to be able to be ready for the next day’s camping activities.
