It’s been more years than I’d care to admit to since I went to university. But I know this time of year there are a lot of students thinking about what they are going to need if they are leaving home. Obviously this depends on where you’ll be living, you could be in halls or maybe have a student flat. I’ll admit when I went into my student flat, there was a mix of new stuff and also other things that were donated too – which was great!
Obviously you won’t need a load of kettles or one each but it’s good to know where you can get items without spending a fortune. Wilko also will cater for your every stationery need which is also why it is so great!
But anyway these are things that you’ll need wherever you live, some bits are to add an extra touch to your room. There are some pieces that I’m going to get!
Wilko Hanging Chalkboard Organiser £5 – Whether you need a reminder for your lectures or maybe planning weekly meals… this is great.
Red Kettle £12 – This really stands out in any kitchen. I love that it can be used by left-handed and right-handed people.
Multi Functional Black Wok £4.50 – Stir fry food definitely formed a lot of my university meals. It’s just so easy!
2 slice glass toaster £25 – Now there are more basic toasters available of course but I love that this one has the glass viewer so you can make sure you’re not burning the toast! Or maybe, you might be like me and be quite picky about how brown you like your toast…
Water Filter Jug £7 – Depending on the tap water where you’ll be living, you might not want to drink straight from the tap. This way will work out better than buying water from the store.
Iridescent Cafetiere £10 – Possibly a bit of a one-time splurge BUT if you love your coffee this will stop you buying from a chain at overpriced costs. Also look at the iridescent colour!
16 piece cutlery set £7.00 – There are a few different coloured handle versions in this range.
Oval 12 piece dinner set £17.00 – Dishwasher and microwave safe. Awesome!
Bath Towel £5 – There is an assortment of colours too!
Toilet brush and holder £4 – Yes a necessity!
Over door rack £10 – Sharing with other people can mean that there isn’t a lot of room so you might find this useful in the kitchen or bathroom. You might also want one for your bedroom door too.
Striped Laundry Bag £10 – Yes, that’s right. You now have to do your own washing. It’s up to you when you do it so until you’re ready to actually do it, then you can just hide it in here. You will actually have to do it though…
Grey Multi Aperture Photo Frame £11.50 – Love this! This is definitely something that I will pick up.
Bathroom sets £5 – It’s a good way to ‘pretend’ to have a tidy bathroom.
Fitted sheets from £3 – You’ll need bedding too and there’s a load of ideas here too. They’ve also got a lot more options for men, not just the usual grey and blue.
Square Cushion £6 – Cushions give all homes a little spruce. You might only have space for some cushions in your bedroom but there are affordable ones here with motto’s on them and also plain too.
Don’t forget that you don’t need everything new straight away, you can always get a few bits every month or so. Also, I now need a shop in Wilko!!
