It’s been a tricky season for Manchester United so far, long-term supporters would say it’s been like this for a while. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has looked like he has all the stresses in the world on his shoulders and Jose Mourinho was looking like that in the same job before he was sacked. Much of this season, Manchester United have been without their star player Paul Pogba through injury.
It was thought he might make an appearance against Spurs and/or City this week but today it seems that may have been premature talk. There are apparently club sceptics and even some fans who cannot see him ever wearing the Manchester United jersey again. Pogba is a huge instagram star and he uses the site for his advantage, why wouldn’t he? But to look at it another way, sometimes he’s perhaps ill-advised to post a little too much about his current recovery plans. Posting this video apparently had annnoyed the Manchester United board, although Solskjaer had played that down.

Real Madrid and Juventus are said to both want Pogba but the problem will come down to the price tag that Manchester United could put on him, if they are indeed thinking of selling him. Neither club will be able to match the price and there are rumours of player swaps + cash. I’ve not seen any player swaps that realistically are a better option for Manchester United.
With Manchester United unlikely to drop their price for Paul Pogba I cannot see him being sold in January unless there is already a good deal in place. I think it’s more likely that he will leave at the end of the season. Of course, with football nothing is set in stone and there is of course mounting speculation over the future of Solksjaer with Pochettino out of work now. Might another change in manager help keep Pogba? It’s a big week for Ed Woodward, he’s got some big decisions to make and some should still be about his own role in Manchester United’s club performances.
