IT is crowned the world’s most searched-for scary movie as it ranks top in 133 countries, including Canada, Russia, China, and the UK, which is no surprise considering this killer-clown-classic was reproduced as a film and sequel since its first miniseries in 1990.
In second place is Us, the 2019 horror film based on a family being attacked by people who look exactly like them. This gripping thriller ranks top in 44 countries, such as the US, Brazil, Argentina, and New Zealand.

Saw ranks top as the film with the highest fear factor, being given a score of 83/100. Unsurprisingly, this horror franchise also scores highest out of the top 30 scary movies on the fear factor for gore.
Whoever said old horrors aren’t as scary to watch today as when first released may want to reconsider, as sci-fi-horror classic The Thing ranks second overall with a fear factor score of 82/100.
If you’re after a scary film that will really do its job and give you nightmares for months, then The Exorcist ranks highest for disturbance. Alternatively, Alien will have you sat on the edge of your seat as it scores full marks for suspense.
