With many people spending more time in their gardens this summer, Paving Superstore shares some easy tips on how to remove common stains from paving:

Beverages
- Try to brush with warm water. If that is not enough, you can try to dilute bleach with water (1:10 solution) and wash thoroughly with clean water.
Chewing gum
- Use ice cubes or aerosol freezing products and then scratch the area.
Paint
- If the paint is dry, it can easily be scrubbed.
- If wet, do not wipe (as it can spread), but soak the excess paint using absorbent cloth or paper towels.
Rust
- Use a rust remover from a marked brand or concrete cleaner such as Pavetuf Rust Remover
Tyre marks
- Brush the area with hot water and household detergent.
Vegetable oil/fats
- You can clean it using mild detergent or brush it hot and soapy water.
Oil
- If the oil mark is dry, wash with a marked brand engine cleaning fluid and then wash it with water.
- If the oil mark is still wet please soak the excess oil using absorbent cloth or paper towels – do not wipe – and then cover the area with dry, absorbent powder and leave it for 24h to ensure the area remains dry. Please repeat the procedure until the powder no longer absorbs any remaining oil and then remove the powder carefully – being careful not to smudge it.
Moss and algae
- Use a weed killer from the marked brand that is more effective with warm weather. You can scrub the dead material after a few days. Don’t forget to always check the acid content for further information before application.
