When Clarence House confirmed Charles and Camilla’s engagement in 2005, they stated that the ring was a royal family heirloom, just as Diana’s Sapphire ring has become with HRH Prince William using it to propose to HRH Princess Kate Middleton. But how much is the Camilla ring worth?

The five-carat emerald-cut central diamond, surrounded by three baguette diamonds on each side was part of the late Queen Mother’s collection.
When valuing the ring, Tony says “Provenance would go a long way to giving this ring a specific value.”
“When breaking the ring down to its core components, the large 5-carat centre diamond would retail at about £150,000 at Diamonds Factory”, Tony confirms.
“The platinum band and three side stones on each side would equate to only a few thousand more, making the current overall value to about £400,000”.

Whilst there’s little information on the ring’s history, plenty of speculations exist. Some say the ring was gifted to the Queen Mother to commemorate the birth of Queen Elizabeth II.
Camilla Parker-Bowles’s ring is significantly different from Princess Diana’s. Tony French says, “In all honesty, you couldn’t get two more different rings.”
The bold colour of Diana’s blue Sapphire ring clearly reflects Diana’s personality. Tony says, “The ring is best to fit someone who is outgoing, and detests the bland and tradition”. Whilst Camilla’s “overall design (of the ring) is certainly Art Deco, which in my opinion is a great period in jewellery design history,” an opulent twist on traditional engagement ring styles.
When asked about what the ring may say about her personality, Tony states, “As it was a family heirloom and presented to Camilla as an engagement ring when Charles got down on one knee, I’m not sure her personality would be reflected in any way on the chosen design”.
Yet, with the length and history of the relationship itself however and the added sentimental value of proposing with a family heirloom rather than a new ring, it’s clear that Charles would have chosen a ring that best suited his bride and reflected her perfectly. Tony continues, “I know she is never parted from it, and why would she want to be,” given its sentimental value and beauty.

Looking at the influence Camilla’s engagement ring has had on the jewellery industry, Tony comments, “Certainly her ring has inspired replicas, ASDA sold a replica of this ring in preparation for the royal wedding in 2005 and it quickly became their best-selling piece!”
