Zermatt revealed as the world’s best winter destination

New research by N.Peal reveals the Swiss skiing resort of Zermatt as the best winter resort in the world.

N.Peal set about finding out the best winter destinations, for both skiers and non-skiers, with some exclusive research and data crunching, ranking the top resorts across a whole host of factors that truly make a winter experience special. Resorts were ranked on factors such as eco-credentials, altitude, snow quality, non-skiing activities, choice of food & drink and social following.

Top of the list was Zermatt, which came No.1 for its 360km of skin runs not to mention access to the Matterhorn. Zermatt also ranked highly because of its unique experiences, the panoramic train, lakes, glaciers and wellness resorts, as well as M star restaurants.

The Canadian ski resort of Whistler comes in second due to its range of activities, top quality accommodation, world-class ski runs and partying nightlife. Aspen in the US came in third, scoring well for its eco-friendliness, top-quality skiing, luxury accommodation and its activity offering.

Also in the top 15 are some unique winter locations closer to the arctic, including the fun-filled city of Tromsø, scoring top position for nightlife, Iceland’s world-famous thermal Blue Lagoon, scoring top for eco-credentials and Sweden’sIcehotel.

If you’re interested in a winter break but not feeling athletic, we also revealed the top winter resorts for non-skiers, restaurants & food, and accommodation.
