Taylor Swift Tries The ‘Skinny Brow’ Trend – Here’s How To Embrace The Trend Without Ruining Your Natural Brows

Ruining Your Natural Brows

The 90s skinny brow is back. Well, it is if Taylor Swift’s latest Instagram posts are anything to go by. But before you reach for the tweezers, Nicola Moulton, resident beauty expert at Beauty Pie, has shared a word of warning as well as her top tips on how to recreate the nostalgic trend without any regrets.

What are skinny eyebrows?

“Skinny brows are eyebrows that are groomed to be very thin, often resembling a single fine line,” says Nicola. “The trend dominated the 90s but in recent years, thicker and more natural-looking brows have reigned supreme, with trends like the “bold brow” or “fluffy brow” gaining traction.

Over the past few years, there’s been a slow return to thinner brows, and with Taylor Swift sharing her love for the slimmed-down eyebrow trend in her recent Instagram post following the release of her latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, it seems pencil-thin brows are making a full comeback.

However, Nicola urges beauty fans to proceed with caution. “Plucking off most of your eyebrows can be a risky game to play – mostly because of how long it can take for eyebrow hair to grow back once plucked. And, as many of us remember, sometimes, eyebrows never grow back fully and can look sparse and thin.”

For those wanting to try the trend, there are clever ways to embrace skinny brows that don’t involve any plucking whatsoever.

How To Recreate The ‘Skinny Brow’ Trend

  1. The most important part of creating this look is preparation. Make sure that the brows are clean and dry before brushing them up using a spoolie brush for a neat finish before locking the hairs in place with a brow gel and allowing it to dry fully.
  2. Next up – apply concealer to the brows. Choose a shade lighter than your foundation for highlighting effects and to help hide your current brows. For best results, use a makeup sponge to really help to blend over the hairs.
  3. Now it’s time to set. A matte finish is essential for a skinny brow, so a translucent powder like Beauty Pie’s One-Powder Wonder is perfect to help keep your makeup in place all day.
  4. Then, using a thin, angled makeup brush or brow pencil, outline the shape of your desired eyebrow shape. Start from the inner corner and start small, you can always add thickness and depth if needed, but the idea is to keep your brows super sleek and precise.
  5. To finish, use a setting spray for ultimate staying power.
