Twickets and Help Me Angela Team Up to Protect Live Entertainment Fans

Ethical fan-to-fan ticket resale marketplace, Twickets, have announced a new partnership with personal safeguarding app Help Me Angela, to give all UK event attendees peace of mind this summer.

Whether you’re attending Taylor Swift, a festival, heading to a late-night West End show or sports event, fans will be able to access the safety features of the Help Me Angela app for free for 60 days, by signing up between the 22nd July and the 9th September. Following the 60 days the app costs £4.99 per month.

The Help Me Angela app is a unique personal safety app that connects users with a live Personal Safety Specialist available 24/7. By pressing the “Follow Me” button, users can have a specialist accompany them virtually on their journey, ensuring their safety and checking in if they don’t reach their destination. Users can also join the UK’s first personal safety community to receive real-time safety alerts and contribute their own alerts to help others stay safe.

Free Help Me Angela app access is not limited to people who have bought summer event tickets through Twickets. All UK and Northern Ireland residents are able to sign up for free by visiting: https://helpmeangela.com/twickets/

Twickets estimates that over 6 million people will attend outdoor and indoor events this summer in the UK. Richard Davies, Founder of Twickets, comments: “Twickets was created to provide a safe place for fans to buy resale tickets and to avoid being scammed by touts. This new partnership enables us to extend and provide that protection to our community. Summer is the busiest time of the year for events and we are delighted to launch this partnership to anyone attending a live experience who is concerned about their own safety or that of their family or friends,”

Andres Copeland, Founder of Help Me Angela, adds: “Your phone is an asset, so use it! With the Help Me Angela personal safety app, you’ll have a guardian angel in the palm of your hand – there when you need us and in the background when you don’t.”

Four ways to stay safe this summer

Lock up and be secure

When you’re not home, make it look as though you are. Keep some lights on, have a car in the driveway if possible, or close curtains on the ground floor so nobody can see inside. The perception of you being there can act as a deterrent to potential thieves.

Turn your phone into a personal safety device

If you’re going on a journey that you’d like some extra reassurance on, the Help Me Angela Follow Me feature is a great help. It will let your chosen guardian angels know where you are and when you arrive. If you ever feel worried or unsafe, simply press the ‘Help me’ button, and the team will immediately contact you no matter the time of day.

Another great habit to adopt is to make sure your phone is at least 50% charged when you head out, or you could keep a battery pack in your bag. More battery means more security.

Be aware of your valuables and your surroundings

Awareness is your best defence. Wearing hoods and listening to loud music can decrease your awareness. So listen with one earphone instead of two, and don’t put your hood up. Swaps like this will soon become habitual.

Help me Angela Chief Ambassador and former Metropolitan Police officer, Michelle Roycroft, adds: “Property can be replaced, you can’t. If someone tries to steal your belongings, don’t resist. Throw your belongings on the floor and run away in the opposite direction. Nothing you have in your bag or home is more valuable than your own life – even a sentimental item. But, that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to keep your belongings safer.

“Keep your credit cards, keys, and phone in separate pockets, particularly when travelling. Keeping them all in the same place means a thief can grab your coat or bag and have access to everything. And, if your driver’s licence and keys are together, someone could easily have access to your home.”

Speak up, feeling unsafe isn’t normal

If you feel worried or unsafe, speak up. Talk to your friends or family about it and take ownership of your fear. The more we talk about it, the more we smash the stigma surrounding personal safety. And, there’s a lot of reassurance knowing that someone feels similarly to you.
