New research reveals that 11.5m (17%) Brits are hoping they find a brand-new car under their tree this year.
The study, by Paddy Power Bingo, asked which big-ticket items the nation wish to receive this festive season, with more than a third (36%) naming a holiday as their top choice.
Other than a trip away or a new set of wheels, more than a quarter of respondents (28%) wanted cash, with a laptop (23%), vouchers (21%) and the latest iPhone (20%) completing the top five.

But wish lists don’t stop there, as viral products are also on the agenda. Over a fifth (23%) yearn for skincare products – the number one choice amongst the more on-trend portion of the nation. The ever-popular air fryer (16%) and Adidas Samba trainers (14%) also crack their top three viral items dreams.
When it comes to giving presents, a fifth (20%) most commonly start purchasing their first gift on 23rd November.
Many leave it dangerously late to start though, putting their loved ones at risk of missing out on what they really want. Over a fifth (22%) start shopping in December, with 3.3 million (5%) bold enough to wait to start between 16th – 23rd December.
A debate in every household is which day to put up the Christmas tree. The data finally reveals the most popular day Brits will break out and decorate the tree, is 8thDecember, according to 50% of them.
Paddy Power Bingo spokesperson, Paddy Power said: “With 11.5 million Brits hoping for a new set of wheels this Christmas, it’s safe to say the nation are ready to trade in novelty socks for something that actually goes from 0 to 60.
“While we can’t guarantee everyone will wake up to keys under the tree, it’s probably a good idea to start practicing your surprised face – just in case!”
