Hollywood is on a roll right now with iconic film remakes. The next on the list? A revamp of the classic 2000’s horror/comedy, American Psycho. And with Luca Guadagnino confirmed as director, expectations are high.
So who will be taking on Christian Bale’s stellar performance as Patrick Bateman? The oddsmakers at BonusFinder have named Jacob Elordi the favourite to play the vain serial killer.
However, a new contender has emerged as rumours of a female lead actor are circulating, offering a fresh twist on the story. BonusFinder have given it a 31% chance that the famous role will be recast with a female lead, with Jodie Comer the leading candidate with the oddsmakers.
Which male actor will play Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino’s American Psycho

The leading candidate to star in the American Psycho remake according to BonusFinder is 27-year-old Australian actor, Jacob Elordi, with odds of 6/5 to take on the infamous Bateman role.
And it’s easy to see why. The rising Hollywood star is strikingly handsome and well-versed in playing a cold-blooded sociopath. His character in the hit HBO series, Euphoria, Nate Jacobs, is a testament to this – abusive, toxic and deeply selfish. Sound familiar? Since then, Elordi has played leading man in some big blockbusters, including Saltburn (2023) and Priscilla (2023).
Film credits aside, fans are convinced that it’ll be Elordi taking the lead once again, following a photo going viral of him having coffee with Luca Guadiagnino himself in Venice last month.
Other leading candidates for the lead role include Jack Nicholson’s son, Ray Nicholson, with odds of 2/1, Cooper Koch at 5/2, and Bill Skarsgård at 3/1.
Following his jaw-dropping performance in Emerald Fennell’s 2023 Saltburn (alongside fellow contender, Elordi), where he played an unsuspecting sociopath, Barry Keoghan is also amongst the favourites with odds of 4/1.
Theo James is the leading British actor that the oddsmakers are favouring to take on the role of Patrick Bateman in Guadagnino’s remake. BonusFinder ranked him as the sixth most likely candidate, giving him odds of 11/2. The suave British actor will soon be entering the world of horror, as he stars in the new Stephen King adaptation, The Monkey. Could this be a hint at James’ new direction?
Jodie Comer the odds on favourite to play a recast Patrick Bateman with a female lead

Following the recent trend of famous roles being reimagined and recast with female leads, BonusFinder have set odds of 9/4 for that happening with the American Psycho remake, a 31% probability.
In the event that did happen, the oddsmakers favourite to take on the role is Killing Eve star, Jodie Comer. The Liverpool born actress has odds of 7/4.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Sydney Sweeney are also among the favourites to be cast as a female lead, with odds of 5/2 and 3/1 respectively.
Jodie Comer isn’t the only British actress that will be sharpening their axes. Sophie Turner (7/2), Florence Pugh (4/1), Ella Purnell(11/2), and Maisie Williams (6/1) have all been shortlisted by fans to take on the iconic Bateman role.
Only time will tell who will be cast as the bloodthirsty lead, but one thing’s for sure: we’ll be waiting with Bated breath…
