New survey reveals Americans’ Favorite Honeymoons

While the tradition of honeymooning is evolving, 60% of couples in the U.S. still choose to celebrate their marriage with a honeymoon. Although some couples are opting for alternative post-wedding vacations or skipping honeymoons entirely, certain honeymoon destinations remain more popular than others. So, with that in mind, what are America’s favorite honeymoon choices?

To find out, fine jewelry brand Shane Co. surveyed over 3,000 Americans. This is part of a wider study exploring newlyweds’ priorities, planning strategies, and spending habits, offering insight into how couples will choose to spend their first days as newlyweds in 2025.

Some of the key points:

  • Beach honeymoons are the top choice for American newlyweds, with more than a third of couples saying they’ve either had or would like to celebrate their marriage on a beach for their honeymoon. Beach honeymoons are particularly popular among those aged 21-24 and 35-44.
  • America’s second favorite honeymoon destination is a cruise, with 18% of couples choosing this option to celebrate their new marriage. Cruises offer the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure whilst visiting multiple destinations.
  • Just under half of respondents (41%) name quality time alone with their new spouse as their top priority for their honeymoon.

Other key points from the study:

  • Budget-conscious honeymoons make the top 10, with 10% of American couples prioritizing affordable destinations that won’t break the bank.
  • Honeymoon trends are shifting away from luxury, with just 4% of couples prioritizing high-end drinks and 8% focusing on luxury accommodations.
  • Adults aged 35-44 are the most likely to allocate over $1,000 for their honeymoon (46%), while younger adults (21-24) are less inclined (31%), likely due to income disparities.
