Turns out, not everyone’s heart will go on – because a staggering 26 million Brits (38%) have never seen the iconic blockbuster Titanic, according to new research.
The study, conducted by Paddy Power Bingo, asked the nation to spill the tea on their film-watching habits. The results? A right old blockbuster of opinions – from the most overrated Hollywood stars to which Oscar-winning films were simply not worth the golden statue.
Other Cinematic Classics Brits Have Snubbed
And it seems Titanic isn’t the only classic Brits have ghosted. Other flicks gathering dust include James Cameron’s Avatar (38%), Forrest Gump (35%), A Clockwork Orange (34%), and Jaws (34%).

Generational Divide
But here’s the real iceberg – it’s the older generation who are the biggest Titanic-dodgers.
Nearly half (44%) of those aged 55+ admit they’ve never witnessed the iconic “Don’t let go, Jack” moment. By contrast, only 31% of 18–24-year-olds have missed out. Clearly, the kids do know something.
Hollywood’s Most Overrated- Brits Don’t Hold Back
When it comes to Hollywood’s most overrated, Mr. & Mrs. Smith stars Angelina Jolie (16%) and Brad Pitt (12%) made the top three - though they were rudely interrupted by Adam Sandler (13%), who slid into second place like a dodgy sequel nobody asked for.

Oscar Snubs & Surprises: La La Land Tops Least Deserving List
Meanwhile, La La Land (7%) took the crown for the least deserving Oscar winner – receiving more than double the votes of Titanic, Chicago, and Gladiator (all 3%). Looks like Brits didn’t quite hear the music on that one.
Top Gun 3 might need some extra speed too, with 6% of the nation backing Tom Cruise as the next actor most deserving of an Oscar – presumably for all those death-defying stunts and keeping a straight face in The Mummy reboot.
The Pressure to Pretend: Why Brits Lie About Film Knowledge
Brits clearly see watching classic blockbusters as important. In fact, 32% admit they’ve lied about seeing a classic film just to avoid looking odd, and over one in five (22%) fear they’d be judged for skipping a fan-favourite flick.
