If you’re headed to a festival this year, you might be thinking about what to wear to look your best. While festivals are all about the music and the experience, they are also like a holiday where you can dress up, express yourself through your style, and wear pieces that you might not get to otherwise. Luxury jewellery brand Glamira has prepared tips about styling your jewellery at festivals.
Yeliz Misirli, jewellery expert at GLAMIRA, comments:
“Going to a festival is the perfect opportunity to have some fun with your look, with colourful pieces, body jewellery or by adding a boho touch. But of course, while you want to look amazing at the festival, you don’t want to run the risk of losing your jewellery, especially pieces that might be more valuable or have sentimental significance. If you really want to bring your favourite pieces of jewellery with you, make sure you are very careful with them and keep them somewhere safe when you’re not wearing them where they can’t get damaged or lost. Why not bring a jewellery organiser or a travel jewellery case with you? Ziplock bags will also help prevent your chains getting tangled.”
Tips for jewellery care and styling at festivals:
- Experiment with your style. You can try bright, colourful statement jewellery, or go for body jewellery. Body jewellery comes in all kinds of styles, from delicate waist chains to attention grabbing harnesses and pieces that wrap around your torso to ramp up the drama.
- Try boho pieces that include elements like beads or wood – festivals are the perfect place for this look. There are so many ways to incorporate this style, so even if a fully boho style doesn’t feel like “you”, wearing jewellery with turquoise or stacking bangles will add a touch of boho to your outfit.
- Check all your jewellery before you set off. Are the clasps firm on your necklaces and bracelets? Do the backs of your stud earrings stay on well?
- If you have a valuable piece like a diamond engagement ring, consider leaving it behind and wearing an alternative ring instead – you don’t want it to lose it while you’re dancing, or damage it while you are setting up your tent. Another way to keep your engagement ring safe while you’re at a festival might be to wear it on a pendant around your neck.
- If you’re spending the weekend – or longer – outdoors, there’s always a chance of rain and mud that could damage your jewellery. While pearls are super on trend they are especially vulnerable to water damage, so if you want to wear this look at the festival, it might be better to leave your real pearls at home and pick up some pieces that incorporate faux pearl beads. Alternatively, just be careful with your favourite pieces and only wear them on sunny days.
