Google searches for ‘front door colour ideas’ have surged by 70% in the last 30 days and with the first weekend of the season upon us, there’s never been a better time to take action.
To help homeowners make the most of it, Express Bi-Folding Doors spoke with home stylist Jade Oliver and colour specialist Jeannine Bogart of Epic Interiors to share five kerb appeal jobs you can get done this weekend, plus the front door shades that are set to turn heads this spring/summer.
1. Give your front door a fresh lick of paint
It’s the single biggest impact you can make in an afternoon. Pick up a tin of exterior paint in one of this season’s trending tones, a deep blackened green, sun-warmed terracotta, or a sophisticated putty and let the door do the talking. You’ll be amazed at the difference.
2. Jet wash your paths and driveway
Winter leaves its mark on hard surfaces, and a grimy driveway can drag down even the prettiest frontage. A couple of hours with a jet washer on Saturday morning will brighten everything up and make the whole exterior feel fresh again.
3. Get some spring planting in
Tulips, daffodils, and pansies are all in the shops right now, and they’re an instant mood-lifter. Fill a pot or two for the doorstep, refresh your window boxes, or tidy up any front borders. A little colour goes a long way.
4. Swap out your door furniture
New handles, a fresh letterbox, or some updated house numbers can completely change the feel of your front door — and it takes less than an hour. It’s one of those jobs that makes you wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
5. Clean up your outdoor lighting
Winter grime dulls even the nicest light fittings. Give them a wipe down, swap any blown bulbs, and think about adding a couple of solar stake lights along the path. Good lighting makes your home feel warm and inviting well into the evening.

This trend moves away from the “pop of colour” philosophy and toward a more integrated, European-inspired aesthetic. It’s about texture and depth rather than contrast, making the home feel like a permanent, settled part of the landscape.
