One hack, with nearly 200k views, people across TikTok are using is paint redistribution networks, which are available across the country. Joe Brunt, Consumer Finance Expert at Fast Loan UK, has explained how these schemes are helping homeowners save money.

Households could be missing out on free paint
“Across the UK, there are budget-friendly schemes like Community Repaint and re3paint, which are paint-reuse networks that redistribute leftover and surplus paint to households and community groups at low cost, or for free, instead of sending it to landfill.
“The average cost of painting a living room in the UK is around £150-£300, once you factor in brushes, rollers, sheets and other supplies, this could rise. By using paint reuse schemes, households can cut decorating costs, while giving a second life to a perfectly usable can of paint.”
50 million litres of paint go to waste in the UK
“Distribution centres don’t just save people money, they help the environment too. In the UK alone, around 50 million litres of paint go to waste every year, despite much of it still being usable.
“Community RePaint also remanufactures recycled paint into its own product line called “ReColour”, made from filtered and blended leftover paint, further helping to reduce the environmental impact of unused paint.”
