Guide to Massages

Nothing is better than the perfect massage after a long, stressful week. But what kind of massage is your style? Unless you frequent the spa or massage specialists on a regular basis, you may not know all the options that are available to you. People often venture into spas, only to realize there are more options than just a general massage. We’re here to introduce to you the various types of massages and which one might be best for you.

Swedish Massage

Also known as the Relaxation Massage, this is one of the most popular spa options out there. The Swedish massage is a full body massage that aims to relax each major muscle group section by section. The therapist generally lubricates your skin with special oil to promote a smooth massage. He or she then conducts a series of massage strokes to loosen up the muscles and knots, promoting relaxation and health. The Swedish Massage is known for being the basis for almost all other massages. If it is your first time at a spa or you don’t come to the spa very often, this is probably the best massage for you.

Aromatherapy Massage

If you are looking to enhance your massage further, Aromatherapy may be the answer. It is used to relax, revitalize, or invigorate, depending on the scent you choose. Aromatherapy is often defined as the practice of using natural oils to enhance psychological and physical well-being. Essential oils and other aromatic compounds are expended to alter your mood, mind or health while creating a relaxing environment that allows you to clear your mind.

Deep Tissue Massage

Also known as the Sport Massage, this massage focuses its attention on specific muscles that need special attention. The Deep Tissue Massage uses many of the same techniques as the Swedish Massage, but with more intense pressure. Don’t be afraid of the pressure, however. The massage may be a little more uncomfortable than a Swedish Massage, but you are always welcome to tell your massage therapist if the pressure is too much. Because of its intensity, the Deep Tissue Massage is usually less relaxing, but it leaves the client feeling renewed afterward.

If you are an avid athlete, exercise often, or have tight muscles, this massage may be the answer to your problems. It is important to note that you should drink plenty of water after the massage to help get rid of the lactic acid in your tissue. This will keep you from being as sore the next day.

Each of the massages conducted are tailored to fit your wants and needs. Seasoned massage therapists are accustomed to creating the perfect massage for any client. We encourage you to try more than one massage to find the right one for you and your needs.
