Having first introduced smartphone bans on the dancefloor of his sets nearly eight years ago because “they totally spoil the atmosphere and music”, pioneering DJ, Fat Tony, is now looking to the future at Club 2.0 – a club experience in partnership with Ray-Ban Meta, where phones are kept in pockets. Ray-ban Meta glasses (Gen 2) capture the night.
Taking over FRAMELESS Lates in London for the one-off experimental event on Saturday 29th November, the DJ believes the latest wearable tech could come to the rescue of the dancefloor:
“Phones have been a blessing and a curse in my DJing life. While I love to be able to document so many special moments, their overuse has certainly ruined the vibe on many a dancefloor at the most iconic establishments. Clubbing is all about energy and connection to the music, and while capturing that matters, the reality is screens take us out of the moment. Wearable tech, like the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Glasses, give people the freedom to experience the night, while keeping the memories alive. That’s the future of nightlife.”

Despite 55% of clubbers admitting to using phones on the dancefloor in the past, over half also agree today that they are ruining the club experience. Guests at Club 2.0 will exclusively capture the night on the latest Ray-Ban Meta glasses (Gen 2), which merge classic Ray-Ban style with Meta innovation. Featuring high-definition photo and video capture, AI-powered assistance, hands-free calling and messaging, and live translation, the stylish glasses are designed to make capturing and sharing life’s moments effortless.
FRAMELESS has transformed one of its galleries into an Ibiza beach sunset scene for the event – a celebration of the iconic music landmark that has defined generations of clubbers and a place DJ Fat Tony has played for decades. From watching the iconic sunset to enjoying a timeless soundtrack curated by Fat Tony, guests will also get the chance to demo the new Ray-Ban Meta glasses (Gen 2) themselves, as well as immerse themselves in the full FRAMELESS Lates arts experience.
DJ Fat Tony continues: “Preserving the magic of club culture is really important to me. I’ve seen dancefloors from different eras and corners of the world, and one thing will never change – I always want to look out from the booth and see people truly losing themselves in the music. As we look toward a new era of clubbing, it’s exciting to think that technology once feared to kill the dancefloor might now be the thing that saves it.”
Richard Relton, CEO at FRAMELESS, said: “FRAMELESS has always pushed the boundaries of art, technology and experience, and through this unique collaboration with Ray-Ban Meta and DJ Fat Tony, visitors for the first time will get to explore one of our Galleries as a living, breathing dancefloor where innovation and creativity will come together in real time.”
