As a keen amateur photographer I have recently started to take an interest in taking images of both rural and urban landscape. I have visited some great places in the England which have resulted in some fantastic images.
What is Rural landscape photography?
It’s mainly images taken in the countryside, capturing the presence of nature and its surroundings.
What is urban landscape?
Urban landscape is based around a city, town or any industrial setting.
Below are some of the best places in England in my view to take some great photos.
Salford Quays, Manchester
Salford Quays has been regenerated in the last 10 years and it’s a great place to go and shoot some urban landscape images. I recently went down with the family to take some photos and was surprised on how much the area has changed. Below is an image that I have taken at Salford Quays
Oliver’s Mount – Scarbourgh, North Yorkshire
Oliver’s Mount is area of high ground overlooking the seaside town of Scarborough. On a clear day it offers an impressive view of the town. I have been up to Oliver’s mount twice to take some images, the view is superb and with a wide-angle lens you can get a close up of the sea front. Below is an image that I have taken at Oliver’s Mount
Lulworth Cove, Dorset
Lulworth Cove can be found in the small village of West Lulworth and is part of the Jurassic Coast heritage site in Dorset. This area of Dorset offers some great opportunities to take some great landscape images. Also close by is Durdle Door which is one of the most photographed landmarks along the Jurassic Coast. Below is an image that I have taken at Lulworth cove
There are many more places in England where I am planning on visiting to take some images, below are just a few of them:
- The Lake District because it a beautiful place all year round to take some great images especially best for panoramic views of the lake and hills.
- Peak District because it is a well known national park in England and you can get some great photographs of the fabulous countryside, especially around the area of Castleton.
- Manchester City Centre Sky line as it has great buildings and a famous sky line around the Hilton hotel, also as this city is also expanding so quickly so it would be nice to get view now and then again in 10 years time to see how much it has changed.
- Dartmoor in Devon because of the wide open areas of landscape, rivers and the stones that shape the landscape of Dartmoor.
These are my favourite places to take some great landscape images, what are your favourite places and why ? Below is a great website that I found about urban landscape.
