Written by Felicia Day The Guild is an American comedy web series based on a group of MMORPG players (massive multi player online role playing game) and gives a birds eye view of their online and attempted offline lives 😀 Episodes last from 3-8 minutes long.
“The Guild” has won numerous awards, including the SXSW, YouTube and Yahoo web series awards in 2008, 3 Streamy awards in 2009, best comedy web series, best ensemble and best actress for Felicia Day. 😀
Felicia Day, the creator/writer also appears in it as Cyd Sherman (aka Codex). The show revolves around the lives of the online guild, The Knights of the Good, who play countless hours of an unnamed MMORPG video game.
The story focuses on Codex, the guilds priestess, who attempts to lead a normal life after one of her guild-mates, Warlock Zaboo, shows up on her doorstep……..
The guilds characters
Codex (priest) – Felicia Day
Zaboo (warlock) – Sandeep Parikh      Â
 Vork (Warrior) – Jeff Lewis
Bladezz (rogue) – Vincent Caso
Clara (Mage) – Robin Thorsen
Tinkerballa (ranger) – Amy Okuda
The characters, and the cast chosen to portray them, work so well together that each episode grabs you immediately and you can’t wait for the next one. When I first started watching them I was lucky enough to have a few episodes to catch up on. Several fun evenings giggling over, and talking about, the characters proved to me how well written and produced this show really is.
The Guild premiered on YouTube on July 27 2007.
Since then with it’s massive popularity and cult following, the webisodes can be found on the official Guild website, YouTube and iTunes. I adore this show so much, even if you aren’t an MMO player, eg World of Warcraft, I feel this will appeal. It is especially hilarious to MMOs who either recognise themselves or their friends. It’s deliciously written, very cleverly scripted and the cast…. Genius!
