Expected to pay dividends of around $10 billion to its stock holders for the first year they will be paid out, Apple is showing just how popular, and wanted, their devices have become over the last few years. With sales totaling $128 billion in 2011, Apple’s market share has skyrocketed with the addition of mobile devices to its lineup.
Originally a computer maker, Apple has shown that it’s possible to make the transition to a different market successfully. With the introduction of the iPhone, Apple took its first step into the mobile device market and dominated the competition. Now, with the addition of the iPad and it’s variants, there are now more than 200 million iOS devices in use around the globe. This impressive number makes owning an Apple device nearly as common as owning a car.
There should be no doubt that Apple still has plenty of steam left in them. With new devices on the horizon, Apple is far from peaking in the mobile device industry.
