How does Apple spend its cash? From iPhones to iMacs to iPads and beyond, Apple drives the computer market even for those who avoid Apple products, forcing innovation from other companies each time they unveil a new design. Not so long ago, we’d have been amazed at all the information we can now access from a phone. Apple’s not afraid to charge top dollar for its products, either, in part because its eager users are willing to pay it. This results in a healthy profit margin for Apple, but where does all that profit go?
We can guess that some goes to taxes, some to research and development and some, of course, to paying its employees and other overhead. But how does it all break down? Just how savvy is Apple in its cost of doing business ratio to its profit margin? And what is the real cost of the iPhones we’re holding in the palm of our hands?
