Growing up on a healthy diet of James Bond movie, most of us has imagined owning a cool watch that could double as a phone, and triple as remote control for an explosive! Well, nothing so explosive about these new age Smartwatches which are now in the markets, but we are definitely starting to see our dreams become a reality.
Why Smartwatches?
Smartwatches have been around for a while now, but never to a point where they were extremely popular. It’s all changed, because now we can get Smartwatches which boasts of functions that GenY would get hooked on. Not only can they function as phones and email systems, they’re also good looking enough to jazz up our style quotient.
Because Smartwatches are still the new thing on the block, it’s not easy to pick out the best option. The jury is still out on which one packs the best features. The brands offering smartwatches are still to feel the pulse of the youth, in terms of their preference. Do we consumers want to just play music and tell the time? Or do we want a full-fledged tablet on our wrists?
Popular Smartwatches Right Now
The Cookoo Watch is possibly the best looking of the bunch right now, because it actually looks like a regular watch. It’s no surprise that people making the transition from a regular one to a smartwatch prefer this. On top of looking great, it syncs with just about any tablet or phone out there and is waterproof to boot. Not a bad package for under $150.
As far as cool features go, the I’m Watch is considered to be as good as it gets. It has a great touchscreen, syncs with iPhones and Androids, and the pictures look great on it. It’s a bit more expensive than some of the alternatives out there, at $350.
One smartwatch that has picked up a lot of steam in recent months is the Pebble. Not only is it cheap at $150, it also has syncing, fitness tracking, and social networking. One of the reasons why it is picking up is because it has multiple straps that people can pick from to match your current style statement.
So, Will Enough People Buy Smartwatches?
Those are just three of the Smartwatches on the market right now, but there are a bunch more and plenty more in development. While these devices are cool, it’s hard to imagine them ever matching tablets and smartphones in terms of sales. Still, because they can do so much and can be used together with our phones, they should sell better than they ever did in the past.
People obviously like smaller electronic devices, as proved by the huge amount of sales that Apple got from the Nano. It all depends on what features are added to these watches that make them worth the money. We already have a clock on our phones, so the Smartwatch is going to have to give us something that no other device on the market can.
If big companies like Apple or Google decide to tie up with the likes of Rolex or Breo, we could definitely have a winner combination there. It’s important that Smartwatches look good if they are going to sell well. Most people who still wear regular watches don’t actually need them, but they are a fashion accessory that adds to our overall looks.
It’s obvious that Smartwatches are cool and have come a long way in the last decade, so at least for the short term we should see them do pretty well on the market.
