Is “True Blood” Coming To An End After Season 7?

Fans of Sookie, Bill and co will be awaiting the première of Season 7 of the hit vampire series True Blood with bated breath – but it looks like it will be the last time you get to enjoy a brand new outing to Bon Temps. Rumours have been swirling for months that it could be the end of the road, and HBO have finally given confirmation that it really is the conclusion. But while we might be feeling a little sorry for ourselves at the prospect of a True Blood-less future, there’s still plenty to anticipate on the way.

Before we bid adieu to our favourite supernatural friends, fans of True Blood can look forward to an explosive finale. The dramatic ending to the previous season left viewers on the edge of their seats with a thrilling cliff-hanger and the threat of all-out war looming on the horizon. In Season 7, the so-called ‘zombie vampires’ who have been infected with Hep V, are gearing up to have a much bigger role in the show.

New faces

The new season will also feature new faces and some complicated relationship webs. The role of James gets a transformation with a new actor taking the reins, before getting caught up in a love triangle with the progeny of Bill Compton. Speaking of Bill, the sparks of an old flame are rumoured to be alight, and lovers of the Sookie and Bill pairing may just see them  back together. As for fans of Eric, you’ll be relieved to know that he definitely has a part to play in Season 7, even after that shocking sunbathing scene in Season 6.

More of what we love

If fans had found themselves getting a little disenchanted with complex plot lines complicating the main storyline, the show’s makers have vowed to give audiences “more of everybody they love” to give the hit show a fitting send off. With more of a focus on human and vampire pairings this season, we can expect to spend some quality time with our favourite characters before they leave us.

A True Blood movie?

Although a True Blood ending is now an inevitability, it might not quite be the final nail in the coffin just yet. Stephen Moyer teased journalists with the prospect of a possible spin-off movie. Moyer has already flexed his off-camera muscles on the series by directing episodes in previous seasons, as well as the upcoming première episode. He has also expressed his interest in getting his directorial teeth into a big screen outing.

While HBO have kept their lips firmly sealed about what may happen to the True Blood franchise, both Alan Ball and Brian Buckner, the creative minds behind the show, have suggested that there are plenty of stories still waiting to be told. But whatever might happen in the future, hardcore fans of the show will certainly be wiping away a tear or two as the final page turns on this captivating story.
