There are over 700 products and services that have the Royal Warrant, which mean they have the special honour of being used by the royal family, From beer to toilet roll, a company can gain a Royal Warrant if the royal household has used the product or service for at least five years.
New research conducted by Premier Inn has revealed where in the UK has the highest number of businesses with a coveted Royal Warrant. The addresses of 723 companies awarded a Royal Warrant were analysed to work out where in the UK has the highest amount of royal-used products or services.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the study shows that the nation’s capital is home to the most royal-used products – 195 in total. For example, the royal household’s umbrellas (from Fulton Umbrellas), chocolate (Charbonnel et Walker) and fragrances (Penhaligon’s) are all based in London.
Norfolk, home to the Queen’s Sandringham Estate, has 44 companies boasting a royal seal – meaning it is the county with the highest amount of royal products outside of London. Royal Warrants have been granted to Norfolk-based companies such as Darby Nurseries for their garden plants, George Goddard Ltd for tailoring, Magpie Locksmiths for security services and Sandringham Apple Juice which is served at Buckingham Palace and Holyrood.
Placing third on the list is Berkshire, with 33 businesses used by royalty. Brickell Swimming Pools in the county is used for maintenance of royal pools, desserts and patisserie are supplied by Montmartre Patisserie and supermarket Waitrose (based in the county) also makes the coveted list.
The study then shows that Aberdeenshire, which is home to one of the Queen’s residences Balmoral, is the county with the fourth most royally approved businesses. Some of the companies include outdoor store Braemer Mountain Sports, organic butchery Wark Farm and Cockers who supply award winning roses. Aberdeenshire is the only Scottish county to make the list.
Hertfordshire and Surrey tie at fifth place, with the counties both having 22 businesses with the Royal Warrant. In Surrey, Launer London produces the finest quality leather goods for the Royal family, and in Hertfordshire Britvic supplies soft drinks.
