With the annual Royal Ascot event taking place between 18th-22nd June 2024, race-day goers across the country are searching for outfit inspiration, especially as Royal Ascot is a fashion event in its own right. Searches for ‘Royal Ascot 2024 dress code‘ have increased by a significant +371%.
But which cities care the most when it comes to fashion and their race day fits? Grosvenor Casinos has conducted a study to reveal the cities that are the most fashion-focused when attending the races, as well as those that don’t prioritise their looks when attending these events.

Leeds topped the list for caring the most about their fashion choices when attending the races, with the average event goer spending £617.61 on their outfits and taking an average of five days preparing for the event.
Closely followed by Belfast, who on average spends a week getting ready for the races and spends on average £324.38. In third place is Bristol who spent a similar amount of £334.59 but take only five days to prepare.
With Royal Ascot being located around 25 miles west of London, it’s interesting that 61% of Londoners consider fashion as an important race day factor, and spend an average of £369.67 on their outfit. Let’s hope their fashion preparation involves finding a hat or headpiece, so they abide by the strict Royal Ascot dress code.
On average, Plymouth residents spend £60.00 on an outfit and just one day preparing for the event, placing them as the city that cares the least.
